Evolution:

This diagram represents the evolutionaly tree of a raccoon. Evolutionary trees are used to show the similarities between organisms who share a common ancestor. The common ancestor is usually found at the bottom of the diagram branching out to different organisms related today that are alive now.

Speciation:

Speciation can occur sympatrically or allopatrically. 
Sympatric:
is speciation with no geographic isolation
Allopatric:
is speciation due to geographic isolation.
